WISPA's Change in Action Week 2024

What is Change in Action Week?

Change in Action Week (2-8 September 2024) is a call to action encouraging anyone in the sport and physical activity community across Aotearoa to share current examples of actions driving positive change for women and girls. It is a chance to celebrate the small wins in clubs, schools, groups and organisations that are improving the sporting landscape for women and girls, and to encourage others to make similar changes.

Submit to be featured by WISPA and win a session with Zoe George and a feature in LockerRoom!

  • Submit your story here  of change to be recognised as a champion of positive change and featured by WISPA.
  • One winner from each category will also have the chance to attend an online coaching session with Zoe George, journalist and women’s sport champion!
  • One lucky overall winner will have the chance to be featured in LockerRoom!
  • Courtesy of NZ Cricket, we have six double passes to a WHITE FERNS home fixture of their choice during the 2024/25 summer!
  • There is also some awesome chocolate up for grabs for some lucky winners from our mates at Cadbury NZ!

How can I take part further and share the Change in Action Week messaging?

Are there examples of champions of change in your region that influence positive change for women or girls in sport and recreation?

This is a week that is a great chance to highlight these Individuals, Groups, Organisations or yourself as a champion in this space and to inspire others to make positive change.

Anyone can nominate anyone or anything - you can nominate yourself or your club/school/org, or you can nominate someone you know (as long as they give you permission!)

    • Download our Change in Action Week Media Toolkit with logos, social tiles, banners and posters here to share your own examples for Change in Action Week
    • Make sure you tag WISPA and use the hashtags: #changeinspireschange #levelthefield #WISPAotearoa #womeninsport
    • Hold an event/activation in your area during 2-8 September focusing on equity for women and girls in sport and physical activity and share about it with WISPA!

Key tips for taking good video footage:

    • Film in portrait (ie. Vertical) on your phone
    • Hold your phone steady
    • Frame the person in the centre, about waist up, and get them to look straight at the camera.
    • Start with a quick intro (Who)
    • Describe the activity that has been implemented (What)
    • How has it driven change for women or girls in the sport/activity? (How)
    • Keep it short! Less than 2 minutes is ideal - focus on the key info only :)
